When a long time friend my husband calls his “yoda” asked us if we would travel over halfway across the country to help renovate and prep their home for sale, we thought he was kidding.
Then they asked how soon we could come, and we realized he was not.
We packed up, found a house sitter, and headed west.
And I stressed. Five states away from my family, my home, my friends, my bank, my contractor contacts… There were some people that thought we were crazy.
It has always been a dream of mine to do an ROI focused improvement of an entire high end house.
How could we pass that up?

The bones (plumbing, doors, windows, etc.) were our primary focus – bids, contractors, budgeting. The other main projects we tackled were the family bathroom, master bathroom, and kitchen:
